Mike & The Moonpies "One is the Whiskey" Directed by: Reed Smith
This video was shot in several segments around Austin. We started at the Hard Luck Lounge on E. 7th making our way around South Congress to Homeslice, also South First, and Zilker Park. Preproduction began at the End of 2014, where we shot our first portion. We planned our next moves and developed the narrative before shooting 2 more days in 2015. Assembly began in February, and we finished color correction and effects last week in an effort to submit to the festival.

Ume "Within My Bones" Directed by: Jeremy Ward
I wanted to do a video that definitely had a story but wasn't necessarily all apparent on the first viewing. I like stories that are a little bit of work to figure out. This one has three distinct parts Childhood that is shown with water and sand. (Very malleable.) Adolescence which is shown as a forest. (Things growing and taking shape.) Adulthood is represented as an artifice of rigid metal and plastic forming a monument of our earliest desires.
The mother takes her child to the beach. Something happens and the child is left alone. The child builds a shelter with things she finds on the beach, but we discover when she is older that she has never left the beach or stopped waiting for her mother to return. She has spent her life building a castle like the sand castle she once built with her mother.
Ume's album is entitled Monuments and I wanted the video to be about one. The song, to me, was about loss so I wanted the monument to be about the kind of loss you never recover from. The castle is a monument to her loss but it is also meant to be about all of us building monuments to the loss of childhood.

Scott Zuniga "Isla's Promise" Directed by: Garrett Gibbons
Austin musician and hopeless romantic Scott Zuniga chases his muse in and out of various bodies of freezing water throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Mother Falcon "Just to See Her Smile" Directed by: David Bukstein

Quiet Company "Fear and Fallacy..." Directed by: Justin Kirchhoff
"Fear & Fallacy, Sitting in a Tree" is from the Quiet Company album, "We Are All Where We Belong."

Gary Clark Jr. "When My Train Pulls In" Directed by
This video means so much to me. When I heard the track for the first time, I fell in love instantly. The treatment/concept flowed freely - I was able to pull from a lot of intimate, personal experiences. Luckily for me, along with having the best crew in the world, i was also lucky enough to end up with the most amazing, talented cast. Our lead girl blew me away throughout the entire process, and Keith, our lead guy, was a total dream. It was the most fun ive ever had on a shoot and it'll be tough to beat.

Jinx McGee "All the Dirty Things" Directed by: Taylor Powell, John Mcgee
"All The Dirty Things" is a chocolaty whirlwind of sexuality. It was directors Taylor Powell and John McGee's first attempt at the art of green screen, and it was inspired by musical legends such as R. Kelly and Al Green.

Slooom "Honey" Directed by: Ryan Orenstein
A dream about destruction; mind, body, environment and soul. Also, theres a dog in the video.

Adam Carmichael "Self Destruction" Directed by: Adam Carmichael, Bad JohnPaul
The concept for "Self Destruction" began at the very heart of the song. Adam wrote the song to represent the need in human nature to destroy something when it is good or to self destruct, whether it be in life or relationships.

With that in mind, Adam Carmichael and Bad JohnPaul wrote out the concept and story board for the video. They created an idealized and glamorous version of a musician's life, creating almost a characture of Adam's own life. They incorporated all aspects that could be considered destructive. Some plot points were fictitious and some were autobiographical to Adam's life. One interesting detail was the homage to the Robert Palmer video "Addicted to Love" which ties the video together.

The cast was comprised of friends, artists, actors, and musicians that were all Austin locals. Tina Rodriguez who is the sister or Director Robert Rodriguez, and who's resume includes films like "Inglorious Bastards" and "Death Proof" played a staring role. Every actor completely immersed themselves in the roles. At times Adam would take real punches from Lead actress Rita Buhler. One interesting fact is that the actress Jessica who played the role of the photographer, later turned out to be a notorious ex federal con-artist who was wanted all over the country.

The production took place over two weeks with little to no budget. All locations, sets, styling, makeup, and hair were generously donated to the production by friends and fellow artists. The filming would take place all day and long into the night. There was an ominous cloud lingering over the production with all of the negative emotions having to be portrayed.

All of the post production was completed by Adam Carmichael, from the mixing to the editing of the film.

This film is a piece of our hearts and was created with blood, sweat, tears, and the passion of a family coming together to create something larger than themselves.

SIGNY "Waiting for You" Directed by: Delaney Gibson
Exploring and introducing the myth of SIGNY.

Two Heroines • Two Legends • One Voice

From the "Myth of SIGNY pt. 1":

SÍGNY of the SAVANNAH:
“I think you look so familiar because our voices are not really two voices, but one voice.”

SÍGNY of the SEA:
“I have been looking for you since dawn. What is your name?”

“SÍGNY”

“I am also SÍGNY”

The girls grasped hands and looked out at the sea. Then they turned and looked back at the land.

“WE ARE SÍGNY,” they whispered and never let go.

Hikes "Like Ripples" Directed by: Lobo Sucio Productions

The idea spawned from a joke about Nathan Wilkins resembling Rufio, which led to the reveal that Hikes (Wilkins and Will Kauber at the time) dressed up as Peter Pan and Rufio for their first show as Hikes. These special circumstances and the unimaginable way the project and the team coalesced made this an experience we will always hold close to our heart.

We managed to book the Black Dragon Pirate Ship of South Padre Island, along with a small crew, for pro-bono shoot. With the tall order of a pirate ship filled, a flurry of travel and accommodation coordination for close to twenty people commenced (shout-out to Walker Lukens for letting the wolves use his van), paving the way for a sucio 36 hours in South Padre, including one of the most infamous nights in Lobo Sucio lore. A rag-tag group of friends, new and old — including fellow artists, filmmakers, and professional actors — filled out the cast of pirates and wenches. The peak was reached when the Black Dragon owner allowed the ship to coast around the gulf for well over an hour, allowing our Director of Photography, Croft Fite, to capture fantastic moments with a realistic oceanic backdrop.

Angus and Julia Stone "Big Jet Plane" Directed by CJ Vinson

We found out that Angus and Julia Stone would be in town for Austin City Limits so we cold called their manager and asked if we could have 2 hours of their time while they were in town to film a video with us. We weren't really expecting them to say yes, so when they did, we were now faced with the task of coming up with a concept that we could pull off (from band pick up to drop off) in under 2 hours.

We came up with the idea of shooting the band on a rooftop on 6th street. A task that seemed much better on paper than in execution because we didn't know how to secure the location. We had a friend that worked in a co-working space on 6th street and there was a conference room in the office with access to the roof. Once we were on the roof we hopped from rooftop to rooftop with the band and all their equipment for almost an entire block to get to the roof we all decided had the best view. This led us to another issue, since we needed power for the bass rig but we were over 200 feet from the outlet in the office that we started out from. We managed to daisy chain numerous extension cords together and by the grace of god it reached the bass rig.

Through the entire experience Angus, Julia and everyone else on their team was incredible and totally down for the unusual adventure. It was one of those shoots where just about everything should have gone wrong, but everything worked out and we all left with some amazing footage and an incredible story.

Walker Lukens "Lover" Directed by: Megan Cardwell

Shakey Graves "Tommorow" Directed by CJ Vinson & Aaron Brown

The video for "Tomorrow" was shot live at The Sessions Factory in Austin TX. Produced by Lauren Bucherie and CJ Vinson The Sessions Factory was a one of a kind music video set that lasted several days in a converted warehouse space that had been transformed to look like a 1960s Andy Warhol Factory party. The Factory was equipped with a wardrobe department run by Gypsy Sun Vintage, a portrait photography studio run by Holly Bronko, a full performance stage run by The WERD Company, an onsite recording engineer (Travis Kennedy) with mics and gear ready for any recording situation, and a fully equipped video production team led by Aaron Brown (Director of Photography).

Over the course of several days, over 20 artists came through the Factory where CJ, Lauren and Aaron brainstormed music video concepts with the artists, then would immediately set up and record the videos live in front of an audience of Factory attendees.

For "Tomorrow", Shakey Graves was first asked to play the song for the live recording (footage from the original recording can be seen near the end of the video). The audio was then played back for Shakey Graves over a speaker who acted out each of the three parts (vocals, guitar, and percussion). The footage was then seamlessly stitched together to create a "deconstructed" Shakey Graves performance.

While the modern day audience outside at Psychfest were in present day and shot on digital. Half of us were out there filming on 50 year old Super 8 cameras and the other half were shooting on digital cameras.

Heart of Stone "Harvard of the South" (Live at Orb Recording Studios)

This acoustic version of Heart of Stone was recorded live at Orb Studios in Austin, TX as part of a series of four songs from the bands EP that would be filmed in the same space, but each have a unique look and feel.

I drew inspiration from Bastille's Oblivion live at Capital Studios, and some Ed Sheeran, Passenger, and Bon Iver live studio performances. Then surrendered to the emotion and vibe of the song to inspire & inform each song's direction.

Heart of Stone in particular felt moody yet edgy on a foundation of a driving beat and kick then explodes at the end. The goal was lingering shots, crossfades, slides, and slow motion (that never made the cut. Real time felt better and created some interesting effects like warped drum sticks). The camera movement, feel, and direction - were shared among several operators who focused on certain band members and moments of the song while dancing out of each others frame.

This is my favorite of the four! The rest can be viewed here: vimeo.com/bongaj

Harvard Of The South is a band from Austin, San Marcos and Brooklyn. Its members also play in the bands Blue October, Hurricane Bells and Longwave
